Clifford Chance has retained 80% of its March trainees, with 43 out of a cohort of 54 accepting positions at the Magic Circle firm. The rate comes as rivals Allen & Overy and Linklaters also posted lower retention rates than the year prior.

Slaughter and May and Nabarro improved their trainee retention figures this month with the latter firm retaining 89%, while the Magic Circle firm posted a 95% retention rate.

Rounding out the Magic Circle retention rates, Allen & Overy has announced an 86% retention rate for the trainee intake qualifying in September 2015 while Linklaters is keeping on 84%.

Clifford Chance (CC) has revealed a trainee retention rate which outpaces its Magic Circle rivals to have announced so far with the firm keeping on 96% of its cohort. Meanwhile Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) managed a rate of 71%.

Slaughter and May’s trainee retention slips to 89% for 2015 autumn intake
The first Magic Circle to report its trainee intake numbers for autumn 2015, Slaughter and May has revealed it is keeping on 33 trainees out of a cohort of 37 – unusually low for the firm which regularly posts rates of over 90%.

Trainee retention: CMS Cameron McKenna keeps on 62% of spring 2015 cohort while Pinsents manages 79%
CMS Cameron McKenna revealed what it described as an ‘uncharacteristically low’ trainee retention rate today (27 March), with only 61.5% of its 26-strong intake staying with the firm while Pinsent Masons secured 15 trainees but from a smaller round of 19.
