UK-based insurance head Katherine Coates and former capital markets chief David Dunnigan have dropped out of the race to become Malcom Sweeting’s successor at CC, after none of the five candidates secured more than 50% of votes in the first round. Simmons & Simmons has re-elected Jeremy Hoyland as managing partner for a third term on the back of a year of substantive investment and revenue growth.

DLA Piper’s partnership is headed to the polls again for its managing partner election, less than a year after eight partners competed in the firm’s first contested senior partner election in a decade.
Incumbent managing partner and co-chief executive of the global giant, Simon Levine, is standing for re-election. Ince & Co’s senior partner Jan Heuvels has stepped down just weeks after a wave of cuts in the firm’s London office saw 32 job losses.
Veteran partner Peter Rogan, who was Ince’s senior partner between 2000 and 2008, has been named interim chairman of the firm’s board. Rogan will oversee the permanent appointment of Heuvels’ successor, in addition to the day-to-day running of the firm. Private wealth specialist Withers has re-appointed Margaret Robertson as chief executive for a fourth term following an uncontested election, meaning she will lead the firm until 2021.
Longstanding leader Robertson has overseen the rapid internationalisation of the firm from one to 17 offices and a decade of consecutive revenue growth in which Withers added almost £100m to its top line.
