Simmons & Simmons added to its international banking practice with the hire of Kirsty Barnes, formerly Gowling WLG’s head of banking and finance in the UK. Barnes brings with her experience in leveraged and acquisition finance, real estate finance and corporate lending transactions.
CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang hired pensions partner Tim Green from DWF, where he was the national head of its pensions team, advising on trustees, sponsors and government providers. Green had been at DWF for almost seven years.
Weil, Gotshal & Manges added to its restructuring bench, hiring Neil Devaney to its business finance and restructuring practice. Devaney joins from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, bringing experience in cross-border finance, restructuring and insolvency.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer lured across Linklaters global head of alternative legal services, Mark Higgs (pictured), mere months into his role at its Magic Circle rival. Higgs had previously headed up the New Law offering Ashurst Advance.
Proskauer Rose made a hire at the expense of Ropes & Gray, recruiting regulatory specialist Kirsten Lapham to its global private funds practice. Lapham advises on a range of financial services, regulatory and compliance issues with a particular focus on the asset management sector.
TLT also made a City hire, recruiting banking and finance partner Rich Hughes from Norton Rose Fulbright. Hughes brings over 30 years’ experience in banking and structured fund, asset and real estate finance. His appointment follows the arrival of finance partners Marc Gilston from Foot Anstey and Douglas Gourlay from Weightmans.
Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher hired Ashurst’s former Paris employment head Nataline Fleury, in a bid to boost its European practice. Fleury has a particular focus on employment law issues affecting restructuring transactions.
