The Legal 500 UK 2020: Breakdown of Pinsent Masons’ top-tier rankings
Pinsent Masons has topped the list of firms with the largest number of top-tier rankings in the 2020 Legal 500 UK Solicitors Guide.
The national leader achieved 69 top-tier rankings across the UK, with more than a quarter in London, where its practices have achieved 18 top-tier rankings.
Scotland, where the firm merged with legacy Scots firm McGrigors in 2012, is close behind with 17 top-tier rankings, with the rest spread across the North West, Yorkshire, the West Midlands and Northern Ireland.
The number of Pinsents’ partners reaching the coveted leading individual status climbed to 121 this year – up from 110 last year.
Just over a quarter of all of the firm’s leading individuals over the last three years have been listed across The Legal 500’s real estate rankings, where 34 partners are ranked.
The next best areas by number of leading partners are human resources, which encompasses areas including pensions, and corporate and commercial. The firm also has leading individuals in areas such as dispute resolution, finance and public sector, as well as TMT and energy.
Looking at practice rankings rather than individual listings, real estate is also the clear winner, with 17 tier 1 rankings nationwide, followed by human resources; corporate and commercial; and projects.
The firm achieved six new top-tier rankings in the 2020 guide: VAT and indirect tax (London); insurance – insolvency and restructuring (London); commercial property (Leeds); education (Leeds); IT and telecoms (North West); and local government (North West).
