‘We need to be in London to enable us to meet our clients’ global needs’: Another US litigation boutique launches in London

Financial services boutique BuckleySandler is set to launch its first international office as it expands its global financial crimes practice.

International regulatory compliance expert James Parkinson will relocate from the firm’s Washington DC office to London, extending the firm’s litigation and financial crimes capability. The new office will focus on servicing the firm’s international client base on the back of a growing need for advice on: compliance, privacy and data protection, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), digital commerce, data security and anti-money laundering.

The move also marks a development of the firm’s strategic partnerships with other firms that have practice areas in line with BuckleySandler’s.

BuckleySandler chairman and executive partner Andrew Sandler said: ‘As the enforcement, regulatory and litigation challenges facing our clients globalise, it has become apparent that we need to be in London to enable us to meet our clients’ global needs.

‘With Jamie in London and the firm expanding our strategic partnerships, we are now able to respond immediately to client needs on a global basis.’

Parkinson added: ‘Our new London presence is a significant part of BuckleySandler’s overall development of a strong capability to advise clients on comprehensive solutions to regulatory and enforcement problems on a global basis.’

The office launch follows the entry of US litigation powerhouse Boies, Schiller & Flexner which opened its first international office in London last year. The firm recently hired long-serving arbitration partner Wendy Miles from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr to kick start a London arbitration practice.
