The John Lewis Partnership has appointed BG Group’s deputy general counsel (GC) Keith Hubber as the successor to Margaret Casely-Hayford, who stepped down this summer.
Corporate lawyer Hubber moves over from BG group where he spent 13 years, during which time he served as a corporate lawyer before being appointed company secretary in 2007 and deputy GC in 2011.
John Lewis Partnership’s well-known company secretary and director of legal services, Margaret Casely-Hayford (Profile), announced her decision to retire from the partnership during the summer, and the leading retailer turned to an external hire to fill the position on an interim basis, with Alan Buchanan, most recently company secretary at Bupa, temporarily assuming the role on 1 August.
Buchanan will remain in post as interim director of legal services and company secretary until the end of January 2015, to enable Keith, who joins in December, to have a ‘full induction to the partnership’ before taking up his position on 1 February.
On the appointment, John Lewis Partnership chairman, Sir Charlie Mayfield, said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Keith to the partnership. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Alan Buchanan for the excellent contribution he has made during his time as interim director of legal services’.
