Disruptive general counsel (GC) Christine Cordon has departed her role at luxury travel company Secret Escapes to become head of legal at venture capital business Arts Alliance Ventures.
Arts Alliance Ventures invests in European companies which provide services to consumers and business users, spanning film, online marketing and advertising.
Cordon served as GC for Secret Escapes, an online seller of luxury discounted holidays, for just over a year, where she managed legal, compliance and corporate governance matters. She joined from banking start-up Osper, the prepaid debit card seller. She formerly held positions at Barclays Investment Bank and Goldman Sachs.
Cordon sits on the four-member executive committee of The Disruptive GC group, alongside Seedrs chief legal officer Karen Kerrigan, Uber’s interim EMEA GC Matt Wilson and Lisa Gan Tomlins, GC at online furniture retailer Made.com.
This May, Legal Business revealed that The Disruptive GC group, a 40-member group of GCs that meets informally every quarter, changed its schedule to monthly formal sponsored events with law firms and has put those out to tender to between 15 and 20 advisers.
This was based on a mixture of recommendations from within the group and from law firm approaches. Its first event was held jointly with Baker McKenzie on ‘international consumer terms across borders’. To date, the group has also held events with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati on ‘going to the USA’ and with Obelisk on alternative legal resourcing.
